In the olden times, people were rarely found deficient in protein. That is because they were used to munching nuts and eating seasonal fruits in between meals, which would take care of body’s requirement for protein. These days, people hardly find enough time to eat their normal meals on time, where will they have time and patience to eats nuts, fruits or other good protein sources? Owing to man’s race against time, he is found wanting where providing adequate nutrition to the body is concerned. I still remember, as children, we were taught by our teachers that if we ate enough protein, we would grow tall and strong. We would obediently gobble peanuts, almonds, grams and what not, so that we could grow tall! Lots of outdoor games and activities would always keep our digestive system too in good state, and hence we felt the need for more such items.

It’s not the same anymore. Children hardly play outside their homes and what little time they get is spent watching TV or playing computer games.
