With over thirty-four million people living in the United States with either clinical or morbid obesity it is easy to see why the diet industry rakes in millions every year. When someone is greatly overweight, it can help bring on several diseases such as heart or cardiovascular disease, diabetes and joint and muscle pain. People often scramble at new diets that make outrageous promises and show outrageous results. This is one of the biggest reasons that the diet industry rakes in so much cash every year. The biggest reason many of these diets do not work is the lack of guidance and support. Of course, many of these diets will work but without the proper mental and emotional support coupled with a good support system a diet is doomed to failure.

There are bad points to a protein diet as well; such as excessive proteins may cause an electrolyte imbalance, the possibility of getting chronic constipation and if not taken properly managed with the right amount of calories, your metabolism may slow or stall.
